'Flyying Colours' ★★★
These guys know their way around a distortion pedal, epitomising the shoegaze genre as it stands today. From the outset, Flyying Colours craft a hazy and dream-like soundscape that transitions seamlessly from track to track, dominated by breathy vocals and guitars drenched in reverb. It is undoubtedly a psychedelic journey, but one that is understated and smothered in a thick, tonal fog. Their debut single Wavygravy builds into static frenzy and could very well be the musical love child of Tame Impala/early Dandy Warhols. Bugs on the other hand is arguably their most melodic contribution, and a fitting end to the record that will leave listeners inadvertently swaying.
